Projects

Here's a little glance at some of my present, past and future projects.

For Colored Girls...
Silenced no more
A Kenyan and Danish transnational project.

The Silenced No More Campaign is part of a larger initiative focusing on ending FGM and gender based violence against women in Kenya. Funded by the EU and the Danish Kenyan Embassy this project had its kick-off with the play "For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When The Rainbow Is Enuf..."

The play is written by the late Ntozake Shange, an African American playwright and dancer, and was staged for the first time in 1977 in New York. Since, the play has created ripple effects across the globe, voicing  women issues. I was part of the first Nordic production in 2019, and was invited to Kenya to yet again perform in this impactful and important play. The play was well received with a great audience reception and stellar reviews. Read some of the prominent articles here:

Miss Julie's Happy Valley, is a three year project, I'm more than excited and proud to be part of. Both as an actor and as a Board Member in the Danish Theatre Company ACT, I will be part of bringing this production to Kenya. The production first premiered in Denmark in 2021, where the show was applauded for cutting deep with a racially charged version of the original "Miss Julie" and I was fortunate to be dubbed one of the 2021 Danish trailblazer's of international theatre with my performance as the character  Christine, by the Copenhagen Post.

I have worked on a couple of projects as a scriptwriter. One was for the 2020 YDMS Project: European Heritage, focusing on promoting jobs for young artists and storytellers, and each of their country's historical heritage and prominent sights. Working with Danish history and writing these scripts I discovered how theatre can be used as an impactful tool for learning and engagement. Due to the corona pandemic the project never fully materialized, but I hope to do more work like this in the future.
